A lot of my jobs come from my network. I’ve been working with artist Jarrett T. Camp for a couple of years now. Because he’s dyslexic, writing is extremely difficult for him. We’ve developed all of the items he needs for submissions, like his bio and artist statement, done a few grants, and created descriptions for his complex works of art. A stippler who works in both traditional and digital methods, Jarrett was frustrated with the lack of representation for stipple and pointillist art so he decided that with the pandemic at hand, that it would be the perfect opportunity to create his own virtual gallery. We teamed up with marketing expert Arti Saxena, a pointillist artist and we’re off on a new adventure!
As writer and content director for the gallery, one of my favorite tasks is coming up with all sorts of creative ideas for all aspects of the gallery – from exhibition and collaboration ideas to developing a newsletter to looking into platforms like Patreon to get some funding. Our list is long and it will take some time to get to them all since we are in our infancy – after an experimental soft opening in September we just opened our inaugural group exhibition : Points of Distinction: Deconstructing New Formalism in Stipple and Pointillist Art.
We’re planning the schedule for 2021 and looking forward to the year ahead! You can read more about the Sarracenia Gallery here!
